In Africa, however, the thirst for online access is often stymied by the kind of problems western users simply never face - swirling dust, high temperatures, a lack of affordable software and limited power supplies. It all points to the need for an "African Computer" one that can stand-up to the rigors of operating on the continent.

E-Frontiers #2 - Computer Connections

Pupils and teachers around the world are being encouraged to use computers to communicate directly with each other to broaden both international understanding and their learning skills. The Global Teenager Project uses e-mail to connect six thousand pupils in thirty countries allowing students to explore issues like the environment and human rights while also picking-up computer skills.
