Out of Africa
Far from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, The White House has deployed 1700 US troops to fight the "war on terror" in the Horn of Africa.  Based at Camp Lemonier in Djibouti, the US forces have participated in military operations against Islamists in neighboring Somalia.  But in Djibouti itself, and elsewhere in the Horn of Africa, they're also engaged in humanitarian work that both ground-breaking and controversial.  An FSN team travelled to Djibouti to compile this report for "The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer".  Production support provided by The Stanley Foundation.
