Yes. You need a second phone with wired or bluetooth head phone to do IFB. This can be done through your reporter’s cell phone. We are currently testing different options to build IFB into the app, but for the time being, you do need a second phone. Update expected Q1 2020.

No. There are major security and functionality concerns by switching to a web page, which is why we keep it within the app on an iPad.

No. We picked Apple because of the camera quality and because the iOS system works the same across all devices. On Android, functionality differs between different makes of phones and tablets.

It will work on a 6 and 7, but we recommend an 8 and above for battery life.

Any broadcast quality XLR mic will work. We have tested the iRig Pre / iRig Pre HD / Saramonic Smart Mixer to enable you to plug a microphone into the phone.

The DJI Osmo Mobile 2 works with our system. Both allow you to control the pan and tilt of the phone’s camera from anywhere in the world.

Apple advise that iPhones can be used where the ambient temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). We have found that heat packs in winter and cooling gel packs in summer can extend this range.

No, one decoder means one incoming path. If you want two simultaneous feeds, you will need 2 decoders. But if you do have just one decoder, the switch over time is minimal. It takes less than 30 seconds to jump between different incoming sources.

The FSN LIVE system is used daily by our Feature Story News reporters, so the app is constantly updated for our own use in a fast-changing environment. You can expect free updates of the application and additional improvements in the coming years.
